What do you think of when you think of home gyms? Is it an internal chortle and an incredulous, “who has the space”. Okay, I get it. Gym equipment takes up space and how do you even use it and who even has time? Well, it doesn’t have to be like that. With the help of YouTube and Amazon you can have your own home gym that can mostly be stored under your couch! And workouts that last as long as even the shortest toddler nap!

The first time someone mentioned doing their entire cardio workout with a jumprope I scoffed. I think that was mostly because I was picturing the plastic beaded jump rope of my elementary schools days that could leave a wicked mark when you smacked the back of you calves with them. But jump roping can be a great full body workout. There are plenty of workouts that incorporate jump ropes on youtube but I really enjoy the one offered by PopSugar’s FitSugar. And don’t worry if you don’t want to buy a jump rope that’s okay, most jump rope workouts can be done without.

Kettle bells are intimidating. Like really a lot intimidating. That is until you stop listening to all the fancy names for the swings and realize that it’s a totally doable workout. And whether you decide to purchase a set up is entirely up to you. If you decide not to try the SugarFit kettle bell workout with a hand weight or even a water jug- just be careful!

My favorite part of an elliptical is my ponytail bobbing up and down- don’t ask. My least favorite is the part were I have to go to the gym. And with the size of most elliptical machines you just don’t necessarily have the space. However, there are plenty of alternatives. The great thing about these small machines is not just how little space they take up but also that they can be used by so many people in so many conditions. Bad knees? Sit down on a chair and peddle away. Bad back? Move it close to a wall and use the wall as support.
