Luxury Beauty Products Vs Drugstore Beauty Products

We all have our favorite beauty products and I don’t know about you but I love hearing about someone else’s favorites. You never know when someone may have that secret Holy Grail item you’ve never heard about! I’ve never been prejudiced one way or the other towards luxury or drugstore items, but I do have my favorites from each. If you know of a better option for any of these, please let me know!

I think by the time I was twenty I had tried at least ten different drugstore mascaras and, with the more padded wallet my twenties provided, quite a few luxury brand mascaras as well. I’ve settled on one, though, that I will buy again and again: Marc Jacob Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara for $26. This mascara is extremely pigmented and leaves my blonde eyelashes dark from base to tip. With only one to two coats, I can achieve voluminous lashes without clumping. I love this mascara and would recommend it to anyone.

If you had told me before I discovered these that I would ever pay more than a couple bucks at the local drugstore for cotton rounds to remove my makeup, I would have laughed at you. But Shiseido Facial Cotton ($9.50 for 165 cottons) has won me over hook, line, and sinker. These facial cottons are soft beyond belief- honestly you have to try them to really get what I mean. With that softness you typically may expect leftover fibers or easy snags, but these cottons never leave behind fibers, nor snag on hairs or eyelashes while you remove your makeup.

You know how everyone goes on and on about buttery this or that when they talk about powder formulas? Well, I never really understood it until L’Oreal’s Infallible eye shadow found its way into my life. Oh em gee. This eye shadow formula has a great shimmer without being glittery, but is still completely blendable and can be applied with a finger or a brush. Iced Latte is my favorite shade. It’s a great shade for just an inner corner highlight, or for an all over lid color.

Another drugstore find is the L’Oreal Magic Lumi Light Infusing Primer. This primer is super smoothing and long wearing. It provides a luminosity that never looks oily, but is still not heavy on the skin. This is my go-to skin item when I’m going for a no-makeup makeup day.
